Enjoying a Caribbean vacation or honeymoon is a dream of many of us. Stop dreaming! The Caribbean islands are waiting with open arms for your next vacation.
The Caribbean Islands are known for their white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The Caribbean Islands have been used by vacationers for many years. Up until recently the vacation and honeymoon destinations were not for the everyday person. It was the playground for the jet setters from the east coast and Europe.
Now it has developed into one of the prime areas in the world for a vacation, honeymoon or business convention. On most of the Caribbean Islands you will find all the amenities and activities that make a vacation memorable. You will find fine dining, fishing, hiking, and of course what the Caribbean is known for Beaches!
Aruba - has its own special beauty. Don’t look for mountains covered with tall palms, walkways lined with flowering bougainvillea, or roads shaded by willowy casuarina trees. Instead, you’ll have to dig a little deeper for the beauty of Aruba. Venture to the rugged Atlantic shore and watch the tumultuous waves carving the natural bridge, continually changing the demarcation line where the land meets the sea. Or you can hike to some of Aruba’s highest hills, curious bumps on the landscape, and look out at the cunucu, or countryside, for traditional Dutch-style houses with their sun-baked, orange tile roofs. But perhaps the best way to see the beauty of Aruba is to look into the faces of the Aruban people, the island’s greatest asset.
St. Martin - With over 30 beaches surrounding the island, the emphasis here is on the surf, sun, and sand. These beaches are as varied as they are numerous. Some are ringed by limestone cliffs indented with caves to explore, while others have palm trees swaying in the soft tradewinds. On Sint Maarten/Saint Martin you can have the luxury of stepping out of your hotel door and onto the beach, or you can freely explore an isolated, nearly-deserted cove. The island even gives you the possibility of doing your exploring and discovering au naturel, as there are a few beaches that the official tourist guide describes as “clothing-optional.” Dominating the scenery at about 1,400 feet in elevation is Pic Paradis, the highest point on the island.
St. John - Nature lovers, set your sights for tiny St. John. This is the eco-tourism capital of the Caribbean, an island where the two of you, from the luxury of a beautiful resort, posh villa or the inexpensive accommodations of a tent or cabin, can hike, snorkel, and tour an island where two-thirds of the land is preserved as a national park. The stewardship of the island’s natural beauty began with Laurance Rockefeller. Developer of Caneel Bay Resort, the multimillionaire donated much of the island to the National Park Service in the 1950s. Today, preservation of this island’s resources lies in the hands of the park service and a developer named Stanley Selengut, a leader in the world of eco-tourism, who operates several eco-friendly properties on the island. St. John leads the world in sustainable tourism resorts where guests make a minimal impact on nature.
